A Trick To Learn Your 9 Times Tables

We'll use 2 x 9 as an example, but this will work for any of the 9 times table up to and including 10 x 9.

Step 1: Hold Out Your Hands

Hold your hands out in front of you...

Step 2: Lower a Finger

Lower the finger number that matches the number you are multiplying 9 by...

Step 3: Count The Raised Fingers

Count the number of fingers to the left of the finger you put down. This is the first part of the answer. Then count the number of fingers raised to the right of the finger you put down. This is the second part of the answer. Stick the two numbers together and you have the answer.
