The Children's Area
We're big believers in the children who are using our apps discovering via exploring for themselves, so we're not going to give too much in the way of "How To" here, suffice to say that if you have a problem and your child really doesn't understand how to work any aspect of the app, e-mail us and we will do all we can to help.
However, a few basics can definitely help, so here goes...
Child Access
For a child to be able to access the times tables games and educational content within the app, they need their own username and password, which you can set up for them via the Parent / Teacher zone, assuming you have a valid account / subscription. More information on how to sign up for a Squeebles Connect account, take out a subscription and create a child account can be found via our support section.
Logging In
Assuming your child has a login, they can sign in via the child login screen (shown below, left). If the last person to use the app was a child, who logged in via this screen, then the app will launch with this screen automatically.
If the app launches on the parent / teacher login screen then tap the "Child Login >" button at the top of the screen.
If this is the first time the app has been used on your device, you may see the "First Launch" screen. Follow the prompts and you will be taken to the child login screen.
Once your child has signed in, they should be welcomed by the Maths Monster, on the Child Home Screen, shown above, right.
Game Types, Modes and Question Types
Some basic information about the different games, game modes, question types and options available can be found on the app overview page here.
Explore, have fun, try different things, but as a good starting point, try getting your child to attempt a times tables "set" that they're comfortable attempting, via the "Tables 1-12" button shown on the Child Home Screen (see above, right).
How Do You Win All The Squeebles?
Okay, here is the piece of information we get asked the most. This information is available within the app, but in case you missed it, here goes...
- There are 35 Squeebles to win in total and these are awarded in a random order, so each child will earn their Squeebles in a different order.
- 12 Squeebles are won in "Tables 1-12" mode, one being awarded the first time you score full marks for each of the 12 table "sets".
- 3 Squeebles are won via "Mix It Up" mode, one awarded when you achieve full marks in this game mode for the first, fifth and tenth times.
- 3 Squeebles are won via "Extreme" mode, one awarded when you achieve full marks in this game mode for the first, fifth and tenth times.
- 17 Squeebles are won for reaching the following milestones for "total questions answered correctly"... 5, 25, 50, 100, 150, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000, 2250, 2500, 2750 and 3000
Other Rewards
Various other rewards are assigned as follows:
- 10 points for every correct answer
- 1 star for every correct answer
- 5 bonus stars for getting full marks in a test with 5 or more questions in it.
- 1 turn on the River Rapids game awarded for every 3 correct answers.
- A random power up (to use in the River Rapids game) for getting 3, 5 or 10 questions correct in a row.
- Occasional random rewards (stars, or turns on the River Rapids game) awarded just for attempting a test!
River Rapids & Trading Stars
You can trade the stars you have earned for boats to use in the River Rapids game. The more stars a boat costs, the faster and further it will go.
Tip: if you use a Squeeble and a boat with the same colour force then they will go further!
