Design a Squeeble Competition!
It's that time again - our Spring 2025 "Design a Squeeble" competition is up and running!
Here is all the information you need to know about how to enter and what you need to do. If you have any questions at all, please e-mail us.
Who can enter?
The competition is open to children age 11 and under. Each child can enter a maximum of 3 designs, so pick the best ones!
How to enter
Send us your child's entry (you can enter up to 3 Squeebles per child) via e-mail, to info@keystagefun.co.uk. Each entry should include:
- Their design of their Squeeble character. Please include as a PDF, PNG or JPEG file, with a maximum file size of 12 MB. Designs can be painted, drawn, made as a collage... even made as 3D models out of paper or modelling clay and then photographed. Encourage your children to be as creative as they like - the more adventurous the better! For inspiration, see some previous competition winners here.
- A paragraph about their Squeeble's personality (likes, dislikes, what their personality is like, who their friends are, what makes them happy (or grumpy!) or any other interesting information. Again, be as creative as possible).
- Their Squeeble's name (max 15 characters), age, hobbies and favourite food (note - Squeebles are all vegetarian, so no burgers or steaks please!)
- your child's first name and age. If you would prefer us not to mention these anywhere public, let us know. We don't need their surname (and would never publish that anyway).
- your (parent or teacher) e-mail address so that we can contact you. We will not share these details anywhere (privacy policy)
- your (parent or teacher) agreement to our competition terms and conditions. These are below, at the foot of this page. Please copy and paste them into your e-mail and add the following statement underneath: "I, parent of [CHILD NAME], have read the KeyStageFun 'Design a Squeeble 2025' terms and conditions included in this e-mail and agree to them in full. [YOUR NAME]" (replace the parts in square brackets with your child's first name and your name). This is really important and we can't accept entries without the terms and conditions included and agreed to.
Important: please make sure you do not include any information in your entry that infringes another brand or individual's copyright. So things like a Squeeble's hobby being "playing PlayStation", favourite food being "Monster Munch", or a character being "better than Lionel Messi at football" should be avoided.
Closing Date
The competition is open until 9am on Tuesday, May 6th. We will announce the winners by mid to late May.
The Prizes
1 x Overall Winner
There will be one overall winner, who will win the following:
- a £50 book voucher
- a copy of two Keith Siddle books - "Debra the Red Striped Zebra" and "Pirate Jack the One-Eyed Cat"
- their Squeeble created as a digital character by us and included in one of our Squeebles Connect apps.
- a year's free family subscription to both our Squeebles Connect apps (spelling and times tables)
2 x Runners-Up:
We will also pick two runners-up, who will each receive the following:
- a £25 book voucher
- a copy of Keith Siddle's new book "Debra the Red Striped Zebra"
- their Squeeble created as a digital character by us and included in one of our Squeebles Connect apps.
The Judges
Judging of this year's competition will be shared between the Squeebles team here at KeyStageFun and children's author and artist Keith Siddle.
As well as being a successful artist, Keith has written and illustrated 4 children's books, aimed at children aged 4 to 8. We love his colourful, detailed illustrations of animals, and his tales of their adventures. We asked Keith to join us as a judge for this year's competition because we think his work shares a lot of the same values our Squeebles apps do - and because he knows a thing or two about drawing and painting!
You can find out more about Keith and his books below, and order them via his website: keithsiddlebooks.com
Debra the Red-Striped Zebra
Debra is teased by the other Zebras because of her red stripes. Sitting sad and alone, she spots a lion approaching. Does she run, does she hide or can she use her red stripes and a clever idea to help save the herd?
Little Angelica (Books 1 & 2)
Little Angelica is the smallest fish in her shoal. She wants to be more independent and explore, so she leaves the safety of her family. Follow her adventures across two books, as she meets new friends, grows in confidence and saves the sea!
Pirate Jack the One-Eyed Cat
Antique shop owner, Cornelius, has a cat - Jack. Unbeknownst to him, Jack has a secret life - as a pirate! Follow Jack and his band of cut-throat friends, as he battles Harpoon Harry - a one-legged albatross - and his fiendish gang of gulls.
The Terms & Conditions
General
- KeyStageFun's decision on the winner and runners-up is final.
- Children can enter up to 3 times, either as an individual or on behalf of their school.
- The competition is not open to family members of anyone involved with KeyStageFun or the judging team.
- The competition is only open to children aged 11 or under on May 6th 2025.
- All entries must be sent from a parent, teacher or guardian's e-mail address. Please don't ask your children to e-mail us directly - they cannot agree to the terms and conditions and for data protection reasons we don't want to be holding children's e-mail addresses on our systems.
- The closing date is May 6th 2025 at 9am (GMT).
The Prizes
- The listed prizes cannot be swapped for any other prize or cash equivalent.
- Book vouchers and details on the free subscription to our apps will be sent digitally, via e-mail. Keith Siddle's books will be sent in the post, so winners and runners up will need to provide us with a postal address once they've been made aware they are receiving the prizes.
- The books are aimed at 4 to 8 year olds - if your child is older and the books are not suitable for them, we cannot replace them with alternatives. You can of course pass them on to friends or family.
- If a teacher enters on behalf of their class, the prizes are still given to the winning individual, not the school.
The Design
- The winning design will be reproduced by KeyStageFun as a digital drawing in keeping with the other Squeebles artwork in terms of style, but all features, colours, characteristics etc. will be taken as faithfully as possible from the entrant's drawing. Our decision on the completed design is final.
Copyright, Usage & Ownership
- The copyright for the finished character(s) we create from the winning drawing will belong to KeyStageFun. This includes any graphics we create, as well as any published personality information about the character.
- Each entrant confirms that their drawing and all associated information is their own and does not infringe anyone else's copyright in any way.
- KeyStageFun cannot be held responsible for any infringement of copyright unknown to them within any entry, either within any drawings or in terms of written information. However, if any copyright infringement is brought to our attention at any stage, then any characters we have created that infringe anyone's copyright shall be removed from anywhere they're featured.
- The winner shall not receive any monies or benefit in any other way from the sale of any products or apps featuring their character, now or in the future.
- Each entrant agrees that their design can be used in promotional materials produced to promote KeyStageFun products in the future.
- Each of the top 10 entries will be displayed on the KeyStageFun website along with the entrant's first name and age. If you would prefer your name and age not to be displayed please let us know.
