Level 3 Spelling Lists

These UK English word lists are included by default in level 3 of our Squeebles Spelling Connect app and focus on words children would be learning in UK school years 3 and 4 (age 8-9).

Each word has an associated audio recording made by us, but you can record your own audio if you'd prefer your child to hear your voice, or if you want to add an explanation, or context.

Lists 73-77: National Curriculum Words

These spelling lists contain over 100 statutory words that children must be taught as part of the UK National Curriculum. Aimed at children in years 3 and 4 (age 8-9).

Note: In the following spelling list titles, 'C' refers to a consonant phoneme and 'V' refers to vowel phoneme. 
For example 'champ' is a CVCC word: ch-a-m-p. 'Joint' is also a CVCC word: j-oi-n-t. 'Crunch' is a CCVCC word: c-r-u-n-ch.

  • Bold words have an audio definition given with the word. This is so, for example, homophones, such as 'wood' and 'would', can be differentiated.
